High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) is a specialized pavement overlay engineered to increase traction on dangerous roads—and proven to reduce roadway departures and increase roadway safety. We are proud to be one of the largest installers of this innovative technology in the country.

What is HFST?

HFST is a safety treatment proven to save lives when placed in high accident-rate areas. It combines high-strength resin with small, high-friction aggregate generating 2-3x more friction between the road and a vehicle’s tires than traditional pavement. The product is very thin and operates nearly invisibly—in fact, most drivers don’t even know it’s there. HFST sets within hours, facilitating quick installation and shorter roadway closures.
